Celebrity hairpieces, celebrity hair transplants… You are not alone

Celebrity hairpieces, celebrity hair transplants… You are not alone

Whether you are famous or not everyone is concerned about his or her looks. In this day and age it seems like everyone wants to look their best, not only for others but also for themselves. Many actors wear hairpieces, this help them boost their self-esteem as well as makes them look or feel younger. After all, a good head of hair is associated with youth, and attractiveness, so when hair loss happens, it can come as a surprise.
Some examples of celebrities who wear hairpieces are,

John Travolta has a very natural looking hair replacement. He wears a lace front system that creates a soft hairline. The color and wave pattern are well matched making the hair blend right into the hair replacement system.

William Shatner who starred in Star Trek has an excellent hairpiece; I have been following him for about 40 years. The reason it is a great hairpiece is that he has good hair on the sides and on the back of his head. This creates plenty of hair to blend into the hairpiece.  If you do not have that much hair on the sides or in the back, it would be much harder to blend the hairpiece in with the hairpiece. Unless done by a professional, you would have to take a hair sample from the right areas of your hair. From my opinion, he wears a lace front hair replacement hairpiece, showing his recession, which also gives it a natural look.

John Wayne, known for his in many western films is another exception. He has a variety of different hairpieces. Sometimes he wears good hair replacement systems and sometimes he wears bad hairpieces.
There is plenty of hair replacement specialists out there with different opinions about the right hair loss hair replacement system. You would have to find the one that fits you the best and makes you feel great about yourself. Every man or woman can experience hair loss for any of these reasons whether it be from childbirth, to an infection, or from medication. The treatment is in your hands to decide.

Charleston Heston, known as Moses from The Ten Commandments. This is a bad piece. There is too much hair on the front and top, it is too heavy and not enough hair on the sides, I would suggest he grow out the hair on the sides more. The sides are thin and the top is too heavy. He has never had that much hair in his lifetime, there would be no need for him to have that much hair at his age now. The hairpiece should be lightly ventilated and with a slight wave to give it movement. In addition, it should be a lace front, so it would soften his hairline and look natural with his scalp. This is an example of what not to wear; it is all in the cut which is 75% of the hairpiece.

Hugh Hefner, known for Playboy. He does not wear a hairpiece anymore. The man is 88 years old, but notice he has hair on the front, all he needs is a partial hairpiece that he can comb his own hair over. In addition, you would never know it, but if he grows his hair longer on the sides, he can blend it in more into the hairpiece and look more natural. This would also give his face a better frame. I would love to make him a great hairpiece if I got the chance to.

Cancer hair loss

www.davidhansen.com
The common name for medical hair loss solution is cranial prosthesis.
These are designed by David Hansen for people experiencing hair loss due to:
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiation
  • All types of Alopecia
  • Burn victims
  • Accident victims
Chemotherapy and radiation
  • Many radiation and chemotherapy patients experience hair loss during their treatment. This could last anywhere from a year up, meanwhile there are solutions to this excessive hair loss. Custom made full skull-caps are especially designed to cover the entire balding area from the widow’s peak all the way to the nape of the neck. This gives the patient a full head of natural looking hair, similar to the way they had it before the hair loss.

Chemotherapy and cancer treatment hair loss

Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, chemotherapy drugs, and radiation may result in hair loss. This can vary from temporary to permanent hair loss. While with chemotherapy the hair loss is usually temporary when it comes to radiation it can go either way.
With chemotherapy if an individual is going to lose their hair varies with each patient. Some people experience hair loss that usually begins one to three weeks after the beginning of treatment, others do not experience hair loss at all. The hair loss due to chemotherapy usually starts growing back anywhere from six months to a year after the treatment.
Since custom made cranial prosthesis take six to eight weeks to be produced depending on the time of the year, it is better to order your prosthesis before the hair loss occurs. By planning in advance it is also possible for David Hansen the hair replacement specialist(main page) to match your original hair color, texture, and wave pattern.

Insurance coverage options

Individuals experiencing hair loss due to medical reasons such as cancer, alopecia, accidents, or burns may be eligible for between 80 to a 100% reimbursement from their insurance provider.

There are several guidelines you need to follow in order to receive

this coverage:

  • Check the benefits of your insurance (usually there is a section under covered expenses that relates to prostheses.)
  • You would need to ask your physician to write you a prescription for FULL CRANIAL HAIR PROSTHESIS
  • To be safe you may also want to ask the physician to write a letter explaining the impact hair loss has on a person’s well being that are symptomatic  of your condition.  Low self esteem, depression and isolation are some common symptoms.
  • Once you order your cranial hair prosthesis keep the copy of your sales or invoice receipt.
  • You may also include a letter from you explaining the importance of the prosthesis for your well being.

How to choose best hair loss system from best person

How to choose best hair loss system from best person
By researching and investing the time to find the right hair replacement system, you will save money and time in the end. You can avoid disappointment with the finished product with the right start. To start you should have trust in an expert of hair systems. When you have that trust, you will feel safe and you will know “the expert” will help you look good.
I believe you should stay away from mail-order hairpieces and pre-styled creations. It is preferably best to buy a hairpiece from experts that specialize in manufacturing their own custom-made hair replacement system. Only then will you own a quality, customized product. With a custom-made hairpiece, you’re measured with all the curves and shapes it has to perfect the fit of the hair system, to give it the right fit. With mail order, you get none of those specifications, which means the hairpiece might not “fit like a glove”. The correct hair replacement system is kind of like a good suit. You are measured over all to perfect the fit, so you will look good. You can choose the quality of material by how good you want to look, same goes for hairpieces. You will pay more to look your best, cotton vs. silk as mail order vs. custom-made. The right stylist will give you the correct option in their eyes for the best beneficial result for you, and not only be anxious to see money in the end.
The steps involved in this is an interview and asking the right questions to decide if a hairpiece is in the right category for you. Asking a client questions about daily life activities will also clarify their wants/needs for the hair replacement system. A hairpiece is not a fountain of youth. Although it does help and take some years off a person’s age, it will not help you look like you did in your twenties. After the interview, the design and measurement are taken into account. Texture and color are also taken into account so that the custom-made hairpiece will look just as natural and blend in with your real hair. Amount of hair is decided on if you need a partial or a full cap hair loss system. Production of hairpiece does usually take 6-8 weeks, but that is only to benefit client into assembling hairpiece to perfection. As soon as hairpiece is completed, client is called in to get cut and styled with hairpiece on for the best look possible. Only then is when your new hair be secured into the right position.
David Hansen’s sale is not complete until you (the client) is completely satisfied. I look to create a bond between barber and customer. I guarantee that hair replacement systems I create live up to the workmanship and quality of materials agreed upon. If any more questions feel free to ask me, I’m more than willing to give an honest opinion about the matter.

What is your easiest choice? Tape On or Bonding a Hair Piece?

What is your easiest choice? Tape On or Bonding a Hair Piece?

With so many choices out there to choose from, which would be the best hair loss solution for you? With Mother Nature changing its mood every day, you shouldn’t have to struggle with decisions such as that.

Summer is here and people tend to sweat and get hot, so tape would be a great idea. You can still enjoy most of your normal activities with no worries of hair piece falling off. The tape is a two-way adhesive that is strong and hypo-allergenic. The custom made hair piece made for you can be ventilated which lets your scalp “breath” with the option of easily taking the hair replacement system off because it is only taped on, that way your able to clean your scalp when necessary. Depending on how much you sweat or produces oils and number of activities, usage of tape varies. You can use same tape for a couple days to just using it once a day, which again also depends on the person.

Bonding is Semi-permanent which means it gets glued on your scalp, in a non surgical method. There are many good and bad things that come with this method. You don’t have to worry about your hair piece coming off in water, or while asleep or worry about process of taping it daily or every other day. The flaw in this is routine visits to hair loss professional and having them remove it and clean it. Not giving breathing room to scalp can cause more damage to hair left over trying to grow, and is also very unsanitary. For some persons leaving hairpiece on without taking off it can cause a bad odor or worse irritate skin and cause open cuts on scalp.
I prefer tape-on because it is simpler and everyone likes the easier way with fewer problems. I can show each individual how to switch tape on hair loss system to make the process faster by the minute and EASIER for each and every individual. Being you have male pattern baldness, or hair loss from a medical condition (alopecia, chemotherapy), research options and choose right hair replacement system for you. Tape on and bonding each have its own pros and cons, but in the end it is always up to you. My choice is a custom made hair replacement system using tape on.

Summer is here, time to look great

With summer here people tend to be more self-conscious about their looks. With that in mind we live in a world where good looks and a good set of healthy hair is beautiful. In the world of hairpieces the same motto applies. Researching options and finding the right solution to give you that self esteem boost will not only improve your attitude but will give you an aura and everybody will be able to sense it. In my profession clients ask me plenty of questions about the right hair loss solution from stress causing male pattern baldness to a medical condition, such as chemotherapy. Where there is a will there is a way, and I can make that way happen.
The best method for you will be chosen with the right research, being surgical or non-surgical. Non-surgical hair replacement is non invasive, so usually is pain free, compared to surgical where “surgery” is needed. Surgical is also not always guaranteed that the balding area will take, it is also expensive, painful and time consuming. Non surgical is the safest way in restoring your natural hair. Although some companies pride in stock pieces with low prices, I, David Hansen, pride myself in the custom made hair pieces that are specifically molded to fit a clients head that are worth the money in the long run.
Having a background and business of well over 50 years, a non surgical hair piece made with my help, would be the most resourceful and most stress free way to go. David Hansen offers the highest quality, undetectable hair system that are custom made for every individual to fit their everyday needs.

Thank you,
David Hansen

Partial Hair Replacement Systems

Partial hair replacement systems are designed specifically to cover a small balding area. This would commonly be used by someone who started to notice balding in either the temples or the crown of the head. The partial hair replacement can be designed using both fine welded mono as well as injected skin base. This hair system may be bonded as well as taped on depending on preference. As your balding area gets larger your partial is going to bet bigger as well, until you no longer need it and can switch over to a full front lace or injected skin system. Partial hair replacement systems can be created in any shape any size to fit your specific needs, this also makes it a great option for individuals looking to cover a specific area due to an accident or an illness such as Alopecia Areata.

buying a hair replacement for a cancer patient and individuals with alopecia chicago

You Get What You Pay For
When you are going through cancer treatments or have had alopecia you should think of a hair system as you would a new suit, as something to compliment your appearance. You use it on regular basis and it is a large part of your overall look.
If you visit a tailor to have a suit made, he would take your precise measurements, inquire as to your intended use for the outfit, and then, together, you would select the cloth for the garment. After you left his shop, he would spend hours carefully sewing the suit to meet your specifications.
If the price of a tailored suit were above your means, but you still desired quality, chances are your next choice would be a selection from a reputable men's store. You would have several ready ready-made outfits from which to chose, most of which would be carefully-sewn copies of creations by well-known designers. Of course, the fit wouldn't be as perfect as that of a tailor-made suit, but most of these stores have someone available to make required alterations, enabling you to still be a well-dressed man.
The final alternative available to you would be to settle for a ready-made suit off the rack in some discount house. In most cases an alterations man wouldn't be on hand, so you would have to settle for a suit closest to, but not exactly, your size. More than likely, this would not be a suit in which you would gain extra pride by simply feeling its cloth or by examining its workmanship, but at least it would serve its purpose. Your outfit would be another one of many mass-produced garments that is just a suit, nothing more.
And so it is with hairpieces for cancer patients and individuals with alopecia. They range from the tailor-made exclusives all the way to those that will just get by. If you are concerned enough about your hair loss and appearance to even consider buying a hair replacement, you should ask for one that is the closest to your natural hair as possible, one that will serve you well and be a wise investment.
remember a hair replacement system should be the most personal and individual component of your wardrobe.
Int the upcoming blog i will explain different types of hairpieces

Alopecia

The technical term for any hair loss is alopecia. It may appear in a variety of different forms resulting from many conditions, but generally, male pattern baldness alopecia falls into one of three categories:

1.That which is seen develop as a man matures. It may be the result of heredity, an imbalance in the body, or simply the aging process. This is the most common type of balding, and it is permanent.

2.Premature baldness, occurring in males anytime before middle age, due to the fact that hairs shed naturally are replaced by a regrowth or weaker ones. It begins by a slow, thinning process.

3.That resulting from some form of injury to the nervous system, be it caused by anemia, scarlet fever, typhoid fever, or syphilis. It may also be caused by a serious accident or by certain medical treatments. Naturally, these cases are much more infrequent, and the resulting baldness is usually in the form of patches or spots.

It is important not to confuse alopecia or the balding process with the normal shedding of hair intended by nature. As was pointed out in the preceding chapter, when hair grows to its full length, it falls out by itself and is replaced by new hair.

Medical Hair Loss Solution

Medical Hair Loss Solution (therapeutic prosthesis)

The common name for medical hair loss solution is cranial prosthesis.

These are designed by David Hansen for people experiencing hair loss due to:

Chemo-therapy
Radiation
All types of Alopecia
Burn victims
Accident victims

Chemo-therapy and radiation

Many radiation and chemo-therapy patients experience hair loss during their treatment. This could last anywhere from a year up, meanwhile there are solutions to this excessive hair loss. Custom made full scull-caps are especially designed to cover the entire balding area from the widow’s peak all the way to the nape of the neck. This gives the patient a full head of natural looking hair, similar to the way they had it before the hair loss.

Hair loss causing cancers

Various types of cancer such as skin cancer, Merkel cell cancer, and Lymphoma may cause permanent hair loss. These types of cancer can develop in and destroy hair follicles. Some cancers located in different parts of the body including breasts, liver, kidneys, and lungs can also spread to the skin and destroy hair follicles. After the hair follicles are destroyed the hair loss is permanent.

Alopecia (totalis, universalis, areata)

Alopecia is a skin condition affecting both women and men characterized by hair-loss usually affecting the scalp. Depending on the type of alopecia the hair loss may also affect other areas of the body. The most common type of alopecia is alopecia areata. Alopecia can also occur in the form of alopecia totalis and a less frequent form called alopecia universalis.

Alopecia areata

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder characterized by a rapid hair loss on the scalp. This type of alopecia is caused by the immune system attacking certain hair follicles. It usually begins with one or two small, round, smooth patches on the head. This disease often strikes children and teenagers but also affects adults. One side of the scalp usually experiences more hair loss than the other and can progress into total hair loss. The hair can grow back and fall out randomly depending on each individual.

Alopecia totalis

In alopecia totalis all of the hair on the scalp is lost. There are two types of alopecia totalis one that starts off as alopecial arieata and later on advances into alopecia totalis, the other form is a fairly sudden loss of hair. This usually affects individuals under the age of 40, though it can affect people of any age.

Alopecai universalis

Alopecia universalis is the rarest form of alopecia. This type of alopecia results in hair loss thought the whole body. Individuals experiencing alopecia universalis are born without any hair on their body (eyebrows, eyelashes etc.) This form of alopecia is caused by a mutation in the genes, even though individuals with alopecia universalis may be born with some hair it will eventually fall out.

Burn and accident victims

Hair loss may also be caused by injuries and burns. This type of hair loss can be either temporary or permanent depending on the extent of the damage to the hair follicles.

Insurance coverage options

Individuals experiencing hair loss due to medical reasons such as cancer, alopecia, accidents, or burns may be eligible for between 80 to a 100% reimbursement from their insurance provider.

Cranial Prosthesis and your Health Insurance

A custom hair replacement is NOT the same as an off-the-shelf wig. They are specifically designed to fit the exact specifications of your head-size, they are custom-colored to match your own hair color and unlike a standard all-machine ready-made wig, human or synthetic they are incredibly light and very comfortable to wear.

Finding a Prosthesis prosthesis that looks natural and is comfortable and secure allows people to go through this period of treatment with dignity and confidence.

When your hair loss is due to medical reasons such as chemotherapy, alopecia, Trichotillomania, or other medical conditions, request a prescription from your physician. It is essential that the prescription is written for a "full cranial prosthesis", making the purchase eligible for reimbursement under most medical insurance policies Most requests for a wigs or hair replacement units are denied, therefore you must request "full cranial prosthesis".

If you require a cranial prosthesis due to permanent hair loss or hair loss during chemotherapy or alopecia treatment, you may be eligible for full upfront coverage to purchase the cranial prosthesis or reimbursement by your health insurance company thereafter
